Interview Information / Experience: | Hi, its a small community program ,8 positions. Small hospital just IM residency. my interview was at 2.00 clock in afternoon. we were 3 people only. First they made us sit in a small room. No tea, coffee or even a glass of water offered. Then the chief resident interviewed all of us . He asked general questions like what are ur plans , what u did after graduation etc ...
He was nice. then he asked two three medical questions. Gave a clinical scenario and questions based on that.
Then PD interviewed he is an old guy - some IMG , i believe from Germany. He interviewd , and asked me questions like he already has written on form. As i was answering he was writing it down ? Like do u know computers ? Which other languages do u know etc.? then he gave a clinical scenario and asked to manage the patient. Was simple case of pain epigastrium. While i was answering he was busy answering his phone ..was looking at his pager etc. Was looking it his papers etc. Then he explianed that they don't offer any prematches and explianed whole match process to me. And thatt we have to rank and told me that i will be matching there only if i rank them high etc. Then the chief residnet took us for a tour for 5-10 mins. Showed us ER , floors etc. he didnt volunteer any info about the program. It was only when we asked questions - he answere that. We were free in about an hour .After the tour he showed us the front gate of hosital and that we could leave.
We didnt meet any of residents working there. They didnt give us a chance to attend there morning report or noon conference etc. .. Not a very impressive program.. Only good thing they provide is a subsidized housing town house - three bedroom for 1000 bucks a month. They dont sponsor any visa, no fellowships. Only IM program in hospital.Chief resident told us after 3-4 o'clock its only residnets who manage the whole hospital as they don't have any fellows there. In the end its like any other community program. |
