| Interview Information / Experience: | I was only IMG among 12. 3 from Minnesota, 4 from other Uni of Midwest, 3 from East coast including one from Johns Hopkins and 1 from UCSF. At the pre-interview dinner 2 Chiefs and 3 PGY2 turned up & were Very friendly and warm. We laughed so much that my stomach hurt. Next day Chiefs welcomed us at breakfast, then a great overview by the PD who has joined a year ago. he told us the reasons why he had decided to come here over other big names.One of the most impressive PDs i've seen.Then the Chair talked to us for 30 mins, he was awesome too. Then few residents came to tell us about research opportunities which seem good. 90% of them are doing research. Fellowship placements are great, everyone who wants gets into one of his top 3 choice of places. IV was very laid back with a faculty for 30 mins. Just chit chat about hobbies, Minnesota etc. A 5-7 min IV with PD where he just answered our ques. All the AMGs were very impressed by the program and a few of them who had interviewd at Mayo, John Hopkins, UCSF, UPenn etc were surprised that how come its not listed with the top 10. Residents were extremely happy. Has 15% IMGs almost all 99/99 with USCE/research n offers prematches to lucky 2-3. Yes, PC told me they had 1900 IMG applicants, surprising coz I haven't heard many IMGs even applying to it. |
