Interview Information / Experience: | day started at 8:00AM. 8:00-8:15AM- aN INFORMAL SESSION WITH THE PC WHO SEEMED TO BE A VERY NICE WOMAN.
8:15-8:30- introduction to the program by the chief resident.
8:30-9:30-morning report, a case was discussed, I found it interesting and informative.
9:30-10:00-interview with a pgy1 resident, a very informal session with the resident answering your questions rather than asking you questions.
10:00-10:30-interview with faculty, no medicsal questions asked....questions were general and non threatening...interview is conducted in a very relaxed atmosphere.
10:30-12:00pm-hospital tour and lunch...good spacious hospital with state of the art equipment and good infra structure.
12:00-1:00-noon conference...it was ok.
1:15-1:30-interview with the PD or Associate PD, no nedical questions asked, infact they went a long way in trying to sell their program and gave me ample opportunities to ask them questions.
my take on the program: very good location(its in the southern suburb of chicago-14 miles from downtown), the teaching is decent, the hospital is clean and nice, the UIC tag shows on the diploma, no fellowship options but 10 of the 20 residents who had graduated had also got a fellowship position. all in all a good university affiliated program, another feature is that PGY1 are not slammed with work like ins ome of the NY programs. The ancillary staff, according to the residents , is very supportive and even"fabulous', to quote a resident!
I will give it a 3.5/5(only coz it does not have fellowhip options). |
