Interview Information / Experience: Extremely Well-Organized Interview and a great friendly american PD with a great sense of Humor and extremely dedicated to quality Residency Traning. The previous nights dinner was excellent, totally informal and chilled out with all of us discussing how easy it is for a first year resident to buy a house in Springfield ! That apart, Interview began with a slide show extolling program virtues as usual and residency pays (which are really good and the cost of living is extremely low )
Was first interviewed by head of Endocrinology, who did not ask any questions - rather asked if i had any, while he sifted through my application papers and said everything was good and in order. No medical questions - jst about why I chose the Master's program that I had finished.
Next was the PD - great guy - showed me the residency training protocol and told me how they plan to make everything electronic and easy for all. No Medical Questions - in fact no questions - just information exchange and why they dont believe in giving Pre-matches and H1s.
Then we were taken on rounds - I loved the smiling chief resident, an India, who apparently is famous in the local community and has now been appointed faculty. After rounds he was next to interview me - basically he went through my application, said i had a strong chances given my research experience, Masters and scores. He gave me his card and asked me to keep in touch - great guy !
Loved my experience - great Hotel too !
City is kinda small and dead - downtown is dead after 8.30 pm ! But Chicago is very near and so is St. Louis. No Prematches - No H1s - J1s occasionally
Fellowships - Endocrino, Hemotology and Infectious Disease. They will be having Cardio and Gastro in 2 years !
