Play Title:YOU WANNA HEAR LUCK?
Runtime:61-90 minutes
Synopsis: YOU WANNA HEAR LUCK? is an anti-racism musical satire which tells the story of three white bigots in the mid 60's to 7o's in America's Deep South who are killed during a white-instigated riot and find themselves, inexplicably, in a black dominated but happily integrated Heaven with, of all things, a black God! (You wanna hear luck?)
The Heavenly Inhabitants are outraged by the arrival of these hateful souls who threaten the quality of “life” they had finally achieved only in death. All "hell" breaks loose as the bigots wreak havoc aiming to overthrow God and recreate Earth on Heaven, while our Heavenly Inhabitants struggle to keep their posthumous homeland intact.
Relationships change, altercations abound. David cannot forget the racism and death he experienced at the hands of the Klan. Conflict between David and his love, Evie, escalates around her objection to his compulsion of peering down to observe racism on Earth. He questions her equally strong obsession with not looking down at Earth - thereby unwittingly opening Pandora's Box.
Hell's white female Devil offers to take the bigots down to where they belong, with a big "if" - but Heaven's black God refuses the deal and musters his creative abilities to dramatically bring about the surprising climax - allowing Heaven to rest in peace!
