He comes unprepared. Fiddler confronts him about his poor grades and persuades him to produce something. Mitch pulls every stunt in the book to keep from working. He breaks a pencil, crumples his paper, fidgets, and talks constantly. Fiddler reacts to each of Mitch’s attempts to rebel, until she finally gets what she wants out of him. Meanwhile, Mitch poses the question, “Why did you become a teacher?” Fiddler counters, “Why did you come today?” Each determines to find the true answer to his or her question, but answering the question proves to be a little too personal.
