Told to children to teach them the values of honor, devotion and chivalry, Momotaro tells the story of a boy who grows up to fight the Ogres who plague his village. The adaptation expands the story to depict the village and the ways in which the Ogres both steal from it and destroy the land and habitat of Japan. Featuring twin Peach kids, a girl and a boy, and the three animals who join them on their quest, Momo no Kawa incorporates the original values and storyline of the folktale, while also highlighting issues of stewardship of the land and cooperation among species.
