| Title: | What is diagnosis for cirrhosis? | Article: | Your doctor finds cirrhosis after listening your complaints and performing the physical examination. Liver usually feels enlarged and harder than usual. Blood tests show liver problems. When your liver does not work properly, your doctor may suggest liver biopsy. Liver biopsy means that a small piece of tissue from your liver is taken for study. Usually the biopsy is taken by a doctor, who is using a special needle Other tests include computerized tomography ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, liver scans with a harmless radioactive substance. Liver maybe also examined by using laparoscopy.
The complaints suspicious for cirrhosis include muscle weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, weight loss, itch, swellings. Doctor looks for the signs of cirrhosis:
*Enlarged liver and spleen (the reason is congestion after overload with blood)
*Yellow skin, eyes and space under your tongue (the yellowing is named Jaundice)
*Wasted muscles
*Scratches (because patient scratches his itching skin,
*Ascites – fluid accumulation in abdominal cavity,foot and ankle swelling
*Spider nevi – small dilated blood vessels on the skin
Normal liver produces huge quantity of numerous special proteins for different functions of your organism. Abnormal production of the proteins causes: Rashes, Urtica (wheals), Purpura (red raised rash), Vasculitis (blood vessels inflammation) Joint and muscle pains, kidney problems, damage of nerves, immune system problems.
