Payton is now a big college girl! And there are plenty of guys who are interested in her. Dakari and Tad are both at the same college as her. And "you got it goin' on" is not an unusual comment from others. There are definite disadvantages to having more than one guy pursuing you though. And add to that the stress of roommates, one of whom is a bully, the other of whom is the target for the bully, to the point where she's ready to rid the world of her pitiful existence. And add to that the stress of college work - which is alot harder than high school! Getting "F"'s on papers and quizzes is definitely not fun! And you know, freedom isn't always all it's cracked up to be. There are some definite advantages to having someone else tell you what to do when! | Extra Notes: | The themes in this book are: independence - going off to college and having to make right choices, friendships and dating relationships with those of a different race, bullying, suicide as a result of bullying, date rapes, drinking and the usual: sex. It feels like each book in the series is exactly the same. Payton keeps doing the same things, making the same bad choices and reaping the same consequences. Dakari apologizes, she realizes she needs to move on from him, then he's right back there with his hands again and she's right back there letting him. Tad catches her and she's devastated to realize she's lost him. Then he forgives her, they move on, then Dakari comes back on the scene again and the cycle repeats. The first book was good, but nothing changes as the series progresses. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 2 |
