| Title: | Sober Faith | Author First Name: | Stephanie Perry | Author Last Name: | Moore | Co-Author First Name: | | Co-Author Last Name: | | Series: | Payton Skky Series | Series #: | 2 | Publisher: | Moody Press | ISBN: | 0802442374 | Genre: | Realistic | Sub Genre: | None | Target Gender: | Females | Target Age: | 16 and up | Issue: Death: | Suicide | Issue: Lifestyle: | Alcohol/Drugs | Issue: Physical: | None | Issue: Relationships: | Dating/Courtships | Issue: Religion: | Christianity | Issue: Self Image: | None | Issue: Spiritual: | Obedience | Summary: | It's party time! And one of Payton's friends has brought just what they need to celebrate: a little alcohol! They head back to Payton's (where no parents are home) and get ready to have a great time! However, that "great" time doesn't turn out so great. A little alcohol messes everyone up. Quite a few hurt feelings, false accusations, rejections, groundings and a broken vase are the results of the night. Payton's sure she's convinced that alcohol is negative now, but her friends sure aren't! Sometimes it takes alot to keep hold of a boyfriend. And the girls, well they either gotta do what the guy wants or surrender the guy. When the guy surrenders one of them, suicide becomes a real threat. Are the girls ever gonna learn to find their value in God's eyes, not the boys'? | Extra Notes: | The big themes in this book drinking, suicide, and the usual: sex. It feels like each book in the series is exactly the same. Payton keeps doing the same things, making the same bad choices and reaping the same consequences. Dakari apologizes, she realizes she needs to move on from him, then he's right back there with his hands again and she's right back there letting him. Tad catches her and she's devastated to realize she's lost him. Then he forgives her, they move on, then Dakari comes back on the scene again and the cycle repeats. The first book was good, but nothing changes as the series progresses. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 3 |
