No such ability exists in the real world of flesh and blood.”
Achan always thought blood voicing was just a myth, but something seems to be going on. One day he begins to hear voices in his head, calling to him, begging to know who he is and telling him he is very strong in his power. Meanwhile, Vrell, a young girl hides as a boy to avoid an evil suitor, but having the power of bloodvoicing herself, neglects her own journey in order to help Achan. All too soon, both find themselves caught up in something much bigger than themselves, something Vrell knows is from Arman, the one true God, but is dangerous and confusing nevertheless. Achan does not know Arman, nor His call on his life. Only Arman can get them out of the trouble they are in though. | Extra Notes: | A true allegory, By Darkness Hid has an ultimate being, some who know of Him and follow Him and some who don't. However, the actual spiritual content, growth of characters, teachings from the Bible, etc. aren't prevalent. A true fantasy, characters are doing things that are impossible in the real world - in this story it's about bloodvoicing - the ability to hear what others are thinking. The book is very well written, enjoyable to read, keeps you guessing, wondering what things are or mean, with the mysteries only revealed at the very end of the story. Yet, there is so much left hanging -it makes you eager to read the second in the series!
Romans 1:20 - For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 4 |
