He is afraid to tell his grandfather that he does not want the charms he wants to give Olu even though Olu is now a follower of Jesus and does not worship the spirits any longer. He is afraid when he goes to the city to go to school. He is afraid of the school bully, afraid of the strange sounds he hears in the school house and afraid of a false accusation from his teacher. When Olu is told the story of Daniel in the lion's den, he understands that he needs to stand firm and do what is right just like Daniel. He gets quite the chance to test his trust in God when he and Bokee stumble across criminals and find their very lives in danger! | Extra Notes: | Olu's lions appears to take place somewhere in Africa. It appears to be a village where a missionary has come and preached the Gospel. The school Olu is going away too appears to be a mission school where the children can learn about being a follower of Jesus. This book reminds me of the Trailblazers books, just a bit older! It was published in 1971! It's a neat story about what it is like for Christian kids in other cultures. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 4 |
