It's an ugly word and the things it is doing at 'Nama Beach High are definitely ugly. Laura feels compelled to stand up for the truth, but it's kind of hard with a broken jaw from the last time she took a stand for what was right. The new kids in school are Jewish and the skinheads despise them. Spray paint on the walls of the school, bullying in the cafeteria, an attempt to get someone accused of bringing a gun to school, and finally a bomb. Laura is determined to help in some way but the leader of the Jewish family says that two girls who are Jewish and Christian can't stand together, they don't understand. Yet, they are in one sense, sisters. Their faith shares the same background. The difference is that Laura has accepted Christ as her Messiah. Hadassah is still waiting for her Messiah. Can a Jew and a Christian join forces and pray together, to the same God, to stop the evil and violence? And will it cost more than a broken jaw this time? | Extra Notes: | 'Nama Beach High is a series about a young girl in high school who goes from being a control freak to a Jesus freak. She learns to let go and surrender control to God. A mysterious secret admirder leaves notes and gifts in her locker pointing her towards what God wants her to do. She's always in the midst of some situation that is way out of her control, but when she gains faith in Christ, she does her best to surrender to Him. As with so many of Nancy Rue's other books, the 'Nama Beach High series targets big issues for teen girls and does so in a very realistic, yet encouraging manner. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 5 |
