They've created a school hate site and a site about Sophie and Jimmy's supposed love relationship. Even the teachers have caught the rumor that Sophie is dating Jimmy - which is so NOT true! But to make it worse, even her own friends don't believe her anymore. It seems the only way to stop all the rumors is to give up her friendship with Jimmy. But how messed up is it that a 12 year old girl can't be friends with someone of the opposite gender! Is there really any way to stop the pops this time? | Extra Notes: | Cyber bullying. At point in time this book was written (2006) it's a relatively new concept, especially for parents. But it's real and needs to be addressed. This book does an absolutely amazing job of outlining - multiple times - the steps someone needs to take if they are being bullied online. Sophie's dad does a great job responding as a parent needs to, protecting his daughter even when it means taking away some of her privacy. This is a book that teens and parents alike need to read. Here in 2010 the cyber bullying may take even newer platforms such as blogs and social networking sites like myspace, facebook, and twitter. The issues needs to be understood and dealt with. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 5 |
