There's mystery #1 The children keep hearing strange sounds at school, as if someone is walking around in the attic of the schoolroom - the one that can only be accessed by climbing into a window from outside. The ladder is hidden behind all the wood in the woodshed. There's no way anyone could have moved it. So who or what is crawling around up there and how in the world are they getting there? That's mystery #2. Kate, her brother Anders and their friend Erik determine to solve both of them. However, it may get a bit dangerous before they succeed. | Extra Notes: | In this adventure Kate learns a few things about those who care about her. Even when all the evidence points towards her being a thief, her mom, her step-dad, her brother, her friends, and her teacher all trust her and know she did not steal it. Kate also has to learn how to start forgiving and showing love towards a mean girl at school who makes fun of her for playing sports with the boys. This series focuses on a young girl who had to leave her home when her dad died and join her mom as she married and moved into home in the northwoods. Kate got two brothers and a sister out of the deal. Her relationship with her new family continues to develop as the series progresses. Heartwarming may be the best way to describe these books. | Reviewer: | J:-)mi | Recommendation Scale: | 4 |
