Drive appeared and I press "A" to format.. then it was gone and didn't appear again.. I disconnected the sata cable - cycled the pvr (pulled power)-shut down the pvr, started the pvr with no sata attached, let the 8300 power up fully then turned it off again and pulled the power cable - reconnected the sata and powered everything up = sata came up as belonging to this DVR and worked fine from there on.. I went from 98% full to 21%..
