It will pause and restart, but no ff or Rewind. Since I use the Trick play features a lot, I turn the drive off when I do not need the extra space. UPDATE 4/1/08 ----During the last week of March 2008, TWC in KC automatically downloaded new "Navigator" Software. I can not tell if it is possport or Sara software, but the diagnostic channel is gone. But the good news is that my external drive works PERFECT now! I can use all trick play features with no ill effects.
Update 2-6-2010 - Time warner pushed a new patch in November 20009, and I am now running Mystro? software. The expander continued to work for about 1 month then in late November, my cable box locked up on any channel. After visits by two seperate technitians, I discovered that the latest update from the Time Warner (Kansas City) had disable the external drive. and the cable box would not work if the external drive was attached. The tech informed me that it was a decision by the local Time Warner IT department. He could not fix it until February 2010 when he expected they would issue a new policy. I tried every 2 weeks until finally in the first week of February, it works again! Weierd thing is that the diagnostics program (hold select, and then press arrow key) does not show the drive. But I went from 40% full to 6% full. Has been working fine for about 3 days now. update 5-13-2010. Seemed to work for a while but now starting to glitch. only glitches when recording another show, but if I record, watch a show and then rewind the current show, it glitchs pretty bad.
