Howdy Ropers,
Hope all is well with each of you! This summer we have held some spectacular ropings! The last AATRC was in Tunica Ms on August 7th and 8th. We always enjoy going to the fabulous facility at Tunica Mississippi. Words cannot describe the awesomeness of the Tunica Expo. From being heated and aired to having hundreds of stalls all under one roof this arena stands out on its own. Plus the guys that run the expo are just great to deal with! Once again the AATRC was able to draw the ropers to Mississippi. Saturday morning we kicked off with a #6. After three rotations we had 34 coming back to rope their 4th round in the short go. Taking the victory was two okies Bill Crowell and Cooper Bruce. These guys came form the second high call back and roped a 10.43 for a total of 36.31 on four. They tied for the high point saddle and ended up flipping a quarter to see who won the saddle. Now the quarters seem to fall right for Bill the night be for at the casino but not in the arena. Cooper won the coin toss and took home the beautiful Running P Saddle. 2nd in the average went to eighth high back, Andy Gromer and Beau Kissinger, with a 43.02 on four. Then 3rd place was Joe Strong and Kevin Schlechy with a 44.23. This roping paid prizes through 6th and cash through 8th place (where a 53.29 held that hole). These limited number AATRC six points are the ropings to enter! You only have to rope against couple hundred teams and the pay off is great. With it being a four head progressive on one it is anyone’s ballgame to win! And don’t forget we have a #6 shootout in Dec at our finals and it too is 100% payback!
After the #6 we went straight into the #4. Saturdays portion of the #4 concluded just in time for everyone to get a nice dinner and a good nights sleep. We returned Sunday morning to rope the 500 pre-entries. At about 4 pm it was time for the short round! We had 115 return to rope their 3rd steer and ended up with 35 catches. So if you caught in the money round then you got a shootout plus the top 14 teams that missed received them also. The top #4 team of the weekend consisted of our most dedicated AATRC member! Deloyd Burr and heeling for him was another AATRC veteran Todd Harned. These guys have been roping great! There total led the pack by a little shy of 5 seconds. Good thing you didn’t leg that call back Todd! The only thing that would have made the win a little sweeter is if our good friend (Deloyds AATRC running and roping buddy) John Cargil could have been here to see it. John went to be with the Lord in October of last year. I can see the smile on his face and hear some comment to Deloyd about if he would have handled his steer he could have won it with him! Although I bet John’s wife Jean was the first to get the call of victory. Rumor has it she instructed Deloyd to kick some tail in Mississippi. Tunica was a place John always enjoyed and he will be remembered each time we set foot there and most other ropings. There are some people that make life a little brighter in each of our lives and we will never forget the impact they make. Mr. John Cargal is that one in ours! Deloyd I hope yours and Todd’s victory was a sweet one I know John’s proud and probably telling Saint Peter a few of ya’lls ropin tails! Second went to Alex McNespy and Charles Kunkel with a 29.68 and third was Dwayne Thompson and Tim Huddleston (Firecracker he likes to be called!) with a 31.19. A little bit of info that I think is interesting is 67th call back placed 11 and 57th placed 10th. Don’t ever give up!! The top 49 teams from Tunica got shootouts to our finals so you guys be gearing up for the 100% payback finals in Shawnee Ok!
In the dummy ropings the 5 and under winner was Johnathon Rider , the 6-9 was Cody Coles and in the 10 to 12 Rebecca Remsburg took home buckles. Congratulations kids!
As I end my letter I want to leave you with today’s thought of “Walking in Victory”. The verse is “Seek first His (God’s) kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Most of you have probably heard this verse quoted before. But I think we all need to be reminded of it’s meaning. You see when it says “all these things” that refers to our daily worries. God promises to meet each one of our needs IF we seek Him and do what is right. If you are walking with God daily then worry should not be in your vocabulary! I want you to replace that word with the word Faith. When the worries of life come in stop and pray “God I have faith (not worry) that you will handle this situation.” In this passage in Matthew the 6th chapter it says that if he cares about the beauty of the lilies of the valley and the sparrow’s food how much more does he care about you. God loves you and wants what is good for you in your life but you must be faithful and obedient to him for this promise to take action in your life. Now if you don’t have any financial needs, your full of peace and joy, your marriage and kids are all just perfect and roping is at the top of its game you might not worry with any of this. But if you sometimes think your bank account is stretched, your spouse and kids are about to get on you last nerve, your joy just flew out the window along with patience and brother love and you can’t rope the back side of the barn you might try checking in daily with your maker. He has got a great hand book on all the answers!!

Be blessed!
