Dear Ropers,
August 20th & 21st the AATRC held their annual summer roping in Ada Oklahoma at the Pontatoc County Agri-Plex. As always at Ada and Ardmore we started the weekend off with some higher numbered ropings. First on Saturday was a #15 then #13 and ending up the day was a #12 & #10 combined. Giving a little incentive to these high numbered guys we gave a high point winner of the day cash prize of $500. Several cowboys were in the run for the cash but it seemed as though youth prevailed! Our winner was JM Skaggs (know in his younger days as Little Jerry Skaggs). Winning 2 ropings and placing a 4th was good enough for the win! In the #15 Tom McClure and Kent Shankles placed 1st with a 33.09 on 4 winning a grand total of $1888. Following was the #13, Roy Dean and our high point winner, JM Skaggs, were the champs roping a 35.85 on 4, and filling their pockets with $2000. Last but not least (for Saturday) was our #12 and #10 combined. Lanny Glasscock and yes that’s right JM Skaggs in the #12 were 37.26 and split $1574! #10 champs were Colton Priest and Jeremy Stewart with a 47.23 on 4 and split $1650. The next day we went into a #10 draw pot with a #8 incentive. Showing out was some young guys that have been uping their game, Dustin Price and Jake Stapp roped pretty salty on 3 (24.60) and were awarded 2 Saddles and $2600! Not forgetting our incentive winners, Billy Ross and Darrell Meek caught 3 steers totaling 32.26 and won $900 for the incentive win. The young champs of the dummy roping won Red Bluff Buckles, and get this …..they all went to the same home, the Crowder boys took the gold! Corbin, Little John and Logan Crowder all won their age groups for the weekend! Boy were their parents glad!!
Clarksville Ark was our next stop. September 17th & 18th we held an AATRC roping at the beautiful Foothills Arena. If you ever have a chance to attend an event there I suggest you go! Improvements are being made daily. They are now in the process of adding more big fans and building a covered warm up arena that will be connected to the main barn.
In the #10 our winners were Tommy Keepes and Dustin Pool with a 30.96 on four. They came from top high back and roped a quick time of 7.77! Winning the #8 were Ronny White and Tim Huddleston with a 29.85 on three. This team came to short round in the 5th high call back position with 2 nine second runs then roped a short go time of 10.43 to secure 1st! Dummy roping winners were Kory Keepes in the 5 and under, Colton Pomeroy in the 6-9 and Taylor Lux 10-12. Congrats to you all!
November is a busy month for us. Be sure to check out the great ropings that will be held during the last month to qualifiy for shootouts in our finals! First we will be in Monroe La Nov 5 & 6 then we head back to Claremore, the northern part of the plain state of Oklahoma. Both of these ropings have been great over the past years. So make plans to attend the last few roping in 2005 with the AATRC.
Once again, don’t forget the final’s shootouts are 100% payback! This means you will be roping for 100% of your money in the shootouts. If you bought your AATRC membership before March 15 this year then you will receive 2 generic shootouts. On your shootouts you may find another AATRC member that has a open shootout and you guys may enter together. Notice, you can only rope with the same person 2 times in each shootout. If you can not find a partner then you may draw your shootout position. Total shootouts that you may have for each roping is 12. Your membership shootouts may be used in the #10 or the #8. For more info on our finals, shootouts and high point end of the year winners go to AATRCROPE.COM.
As always here is a thought for the month on how to “Walk In Victory.” 2 Corinthians 10:3&4 are the verses I want us to look at. “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.” then in Ephesians 6:12 it states that we are not fighting against flesh and blood but against dark powers. Satan uses the world (people that are not submitted to God and his ways) to fight with weapons such as lawsuits, strikes, manipulation, retaliation, false accusations and anything unmoral! But God says first stop and realize you are not fighting people!!! It is the devil and his evil forces, and I (God) have given you the power to prevail and tear down Satan’s strongholds (where the devil has set up a protected camp)! In Matthew 16:18 says that the gates of hell will not prevail the church (God’s people) and Jesus also said in this statement that he would give us the key to unlock heaven. Ok, so you ask what are our keys or weapons? I believe you will find them in the 6th chapter of Ephesians (armor of God). First is truth, the devil puts lies in your head and all around. Let God’s light rule in your hearts and lives. Always seek the truth before you react in any way. Romans 13:12 say to put on the armor of light (truth) this will shine in darkness and we all know that evil is “darkness“. Second is righteousness, 2 Corinthians 6:7 talks of “weapons of righteousness.” This is desiring what is right and pure. This way you may come before God with a clean conscience. Third, be ready at all times to share the word of God through peace. 2 Timothy 2:24 says to be kind to everyone , able to teach. Last, but not least is faith, prayer and the sword of the spirit (which is the bible). We have to stay in communication and in God’s word daily so we will know the promises and commandments. Once we know them this prepares us to have faith to believing and know how to pray in expectance! Once again God has given us everything we need to have VICTORY. When in war you must know your weapons and how to use them!

Remember you can have the powere to be on the offence not the defense!
