Dear Ropers,

Ada Ok was the place to be on August 2nd & 3rd. Even with some other big ropings scheduled on the same weekend the turn out was great. In the first roping of the day (#9 with #7inc) we had about 130 teams and in the #6 the number was close to 800. Allowing us, in the #6, to run 400 on Saturday and 400 on Sunday. In the past this roping has been our ?Rope with the Champs? roping. This year the pros schedules were too tight to squeeze in the roping, but we look forward to hopefully working with them in future. The roping ran smooth and the steers were just ideal. Starting the day off we held a #9 with a #7 incentive. The steers were a little fresher than in the six point. That didn?t bother the high call back team. Mike Creech and Heath Osborn these guys stood out by over three seconds after roping their call back in a time of 8.34. These ropers made four quality runs, keeping their heads on in each run gave them a time of 34.24 which was good for the victory, $2600 and don?t forgetting the beautiful Hy-O-Silver buckles! Second place went to the fifth call back Colby Hall and Dale Martin. Having a nice 8 sec run on their call back steer gave them an average of 37.68 clenching second by a little over 1 second. Guys don?t forget this roping had an incentive and when you hear about it you will have wished you would have entered it! Three holes were paid in the incentive and last paid back on the three head. Yep, that is right! First in the #7 went to Cody Camerer and Joseph Harrison with a 50.52 on four, and tailing close behind with a 50.87 went to Jim Burch and Roy Burkhalter. If you didn?t get to make the #9 w/ #7 inc you will want to put Oct 5th & 6th on your calendar. This will be the fifth annual Levi Lusk memorial. The format will be the same as Ada Ok. We will have a #9 w/ #7inc and after that we will run the #6 pick and draw.
In the #6 ten holes in the average were paid out with cash and prizes. First place went to Ronny Riley and Shawn Lyday with a 36.77 on four. This was not the first saddle of ours for either one of these guys. After watching their call back of a 7.91 you could tell the winners circle was no stranger to these two. Second place went to Jim Burch and Blake Smith. Jim?s weekend was good, placing twice in the #6 and once in the #9 made for a profitable weekend! We were glad to see Blake Smith take home a saddle and cash! Blake has blessed us with his beautiful voice with the national anthem and also at church. I think Blake wanted to show everyone that not only could he really sing but he can rope too!
Once again don?t forget Ardmore?s roping at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum on Oct 5th & 6th then we go to Monroe La & Claremore Ok in Nov. Look at our ads for details especially for Claremore. We will be having a young pro clinic on the Friday before the roping . This will be our 3rd time to host the Young Pros at this roping. It has always been a great success so make plans to come a night early and get tuned up at the free clinic.
In closing I want to share with you email that I received, it might share some insight on today's world problems!

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11).

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.

And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school .... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
