Dear Ropers,
Since we left off the AATRC has been to the north and to the south. May 24th and 25th we were in Humansville Mo. The weather was grand along with the fabulous facility owned by Roger Johnson. And what a pleasure he and his wife are to work with! We appreciate everything that they did to accommodate our roping and stay. Taking home two saddles and two buckles was the Waide family. First in the average went to high call back Rusty Waide and Tim Lee with a 36.37 on four. This win was good for 2 saddles and $2000. These guys also won fast time in the money round with an 8.89 winning beautiful Hy-O-Silver buckles. And if that wasn?t good enough Rusty showed out again winning 3rd place with Robert Staggs. A 42.94 was their time on 4 and that paid 2 saddles along with $1200. Making Rusty Waide?s weekend a great success! 2nd place went to 9th call back Dwight Adams and Cooper Bruce. Cooper a 12 year old roper from Oklahoma cinched 2nd place with two feet for a time of 9.98 giving him and his partner from Nebraska a 42.16 on four. High lady was Sally Weeks and high 14 and under went to Cody Waide both winning buckles. After Missouri we headed south to Athens, TX. Where the Texans showed up in full force! 1st in the average went to two guys that call Texas there home, Gary Don Hopkins and Joey Hill. 26.15 on three was the time of these champs. They took home $2500 and 2 saddles. And it won?t be long before Joey?s cheering section will be up and running! With two beautiful twin girls that will be so proud of there daddy! 2nd went to Bill Lloyd (with the nicest red roan horse I have ever seen) and Zach Bocco another young roper that will probably be in the winners circle many more times to come! These guys trailed 1st close with a 26.50 on three. At Athens saddles went through 4th allowing Steve Dooley, Kendal Brantley, Jim Donaldson and John Cargal all to take home saddles. Our next stop will be Fort Smith, Ark on July 12th and 13th. We will be giving away 20 saddles at this roping! That is right 20 saddles. We have had lots of calls from ropers to make sure that the ad was right. And it is. The saddles will go to the top 10 in the average. For more info on the roping go to this months ads in your roping paper, magazine or visit our web site at AATRCROPE.COM. Or you may always call us at 580-653-2467. I want to remind everyone about our Finals on Dec. 5th,6th & 7th. You aquire shootout positions by placing in the top 5% of any of our ropings. (which is listed on our web page). The person you win with is who you rope with. If you won your shoot out in a #4 roping and one of you get bumped to a #3, you will be placed in the #6 shootout. We will have a #4 & #6 shootout at our finals. If your partner does not show then you will be drawn a run. The only way you can pick a run is with your ½ of a shootout that you are given with your membership. Everyone that is an AATRC member receives ½ of a shootout when you buy your membership. You can use it to partner up with another AATRC member that has not used their ½. The two ½?s will equal 1 shootout. You will also have a chance to win more shootouts by entering the preliminaries that will be held the Fri and Sat of the finals weekend. We will take the top 10% of the prelims to the finals on the next day. In closing I want to share an email I was sent today:
God is at the window There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching. Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing. After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen. Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes. Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said, "Well, that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help. She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed the he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."
Thought for the day and everyday thereafter: whatever is in your past, whatever you have done -- and the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, debt, fear, hatred, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, etc.) whatever it is, you need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will wallow in the pit and let the devil make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets - It is by God's Grace and Mercy that we are saved. Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today.
